Acupuncture in Chinese Tradition
Many dogs seem remarkably tolerant of the application of acupuncture needles.
And there is a considerable body of empirical evidence that it can have a beneficial effect on musculo-skeletal problems in dogs, as well as a less documented effect on other chronic diseases.
Acupuncture is a whole system of medicine in Chinese tradition, but in western veterinary medicine it's used as an auxiliary to other more conventional treatments.
There are few associations of veterinary acupuncturists, and practitioners of this skill in veterinary medicine are relatively uncommon.
There are, however, sufficient vets with an interest m acupuncture to make it worthwhile asking your own veterinary surgeon for help if the occasion arises.
