Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy could be regarded as an offshoot of herbalism, in that the system uses extracts from plants, prepared as the essential oils of those plants, as a form of therapy.
The oils are used either for massage or simply inhaled by a diffusion into the air, and are considered to be useful for a wide range of ailments.
Aromatherapy is rarely used by veterinary surgeons, although some owners are sufficiently knowledgeable to be able to use the therapy as an adjunct to conventional medicine.
