Bites

Dog bites will often become infected. This is particularly the case when the bite causes a puncture wound.

Unless the wounds are multiple, or large enough obviously to require veterinary attention, there is no emergency, but the dog should be taken to the veterinary surgery within twenty-four hours to allow the vet to assess whether antibiotic injections are needed.

Prior to that, the wound may be cleansed with antiseptic lotion.
