Chest
This should be broad and deep, with enough room for a baseball cap to be fitted between the two forearms. This allows ample room for the heart and lungs.
The horse should appear to have a 'leg at each corner,' which prevents a close action in front. However, if the chest is too wide, it can again lead to a 'rolling' action which is undesirable. The ideal is a happy medium.
The front legs should be straight and in pairs, with a long muscular forearm and short dense cannon bone. The elbow should be clear of the ribs, and you should be able to run a hand between the two.
The knees should be a 'pair', facing directly forward, and broad and flat, and the pasterns should slope on a similar angle to the shoulder.
If the pasterns are too long, there may be a potential weakness, but if too short, they are less able to cope with concussion. The feet should be in pairs, and well made with tough horn.
