Corrugated Plastic or Iron Can be Used

There should be air vents in the roof, which needs to be constructed with suitable materials. Roofing tiles are excellent, but expensive; roofing felt works, but it is not fireproof and its insulation properties are poor.

Corrugated plastic or iron can be used, but they have very poor insulation properties and are noisy. The windows should be on the same side of the stall as the door, and should hinge on the bottom and open outward to prevent drafts.

They should be covered with wire mesh and be glazed with wired safety glass. Stables need a constant clean supply of water, and this can be provided by buckets or automatic waterers.

All lights in the stable should be out of reach of the horses, and should be covered to pre-vent glass shattering into the bed. All electrical switches and leads should be well out of reach of the horse.

Any fittings or fixtures, such as tie-up rings, hay racks, or feed managers should be free from sharp edges and placed so as not to cause injury.

If you intend to keep your horse at a livery stables, be sure to inspect the fields and stable complex where your horse is to be kept, and ensure that they are safe and clean.
