Fertility Talisman

The increase in the popularity of the cat deity Bastet in late Egypt (c. 600-200 BC) was reflected in the large numbers of cat talismans which were produced at that time.

This bronze female cat with kitten may have been presented to Bastet as an expression of gratitude or in expectation of future favors, especially in connection with matters such as fertility and child care.
