Length of Dog Leashes

Waynesville adopted a new set of rules for animal control but some fought that certain dog rules were too strict.

One rule stated that dogs would be considered to be under control of their owners if the leash was not longer than 8 feet long.

Councilman Ed Conley found this to be quite ridiculous. “I understand dogs have to be on a leash, but are we getting to the point where we are going to me measuring people’s leashes?”

Conley said. “Are you going to stop people and measure the length of their leash?” The matter is still in debate.
