Library Cat

More recently in the United States, librarians have formed The Library Cat society, in order to preserve the work of Library cats that prevent rodents from damaging book bindings.

Originally used as ratters and mousers at home and work, cats have proved highly effective at pest control all over the world. But it is the cat's endearing personality that has secured its continued usage now that there are other forms of rodent control.

From Egyptian fowler and ship's mouser to parliamentary confidant, the domestic cat has fulfilled many roles in both and work and play.

In North America and many parts of Europe, cats are now the mast popular pet, partly due to heir predatory skills but more because they are easy to care for and excellent company.

From the time that people first stored grain, the cat has been a safe and very effective method of vermin control. Now, with the shift to urban living, there is less grain to protect, but there are just as many rats and mice to destroy
