Man Was Killed

He was struck by a car while trying to catch his dogs and police have identified the man. The man is Joseph Wayne Williamson of Richmond Hill. He was 49 years old and was struck by the car around 8:30 p.m.

"As he was crossing the road, he lost his shoe and when he realized his shoe had fallen off he turned around to go get it," York Region Staff Sgt. Harry Horn said.

When he turned back he was struck by a Saturn Ion and taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver and passenger of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
