Manes Can Also Be Hogged
Manes can also be hogged, which involves clipping the entire mane off- start at the withers and clip up the mane towards the poll.
This is most effectively done when someone is holding the horse's head down, so that the crest is stretched.
Hogging will need to be redone every three weeks or so to keep it neat, and is most commonly seen on cobs.
Horse Fact:
When clipping a horse's coat, the first clip is usually done in October and the last clip should not be any later than the last week of January.
Clipping after this time will affect the spring coat growing through.
