Osteopathy

Veterinary osteopathy is now well established as a supportive therapy in veterinary medicine.

Osteopathy, as originally understood, held that most or all diseases are caused by displacement of bones and are curable by manipulation.

It is doubtful if any practising osteopaths now adhere totally to this doctrine, but there is no doubt that manipulation can effect considerable improvement in a number of chronic-disease conditions.

Musculo-skeletal problems in the dog seem to be particularly responsive to osteopathic manipulation.

As with the insertion of acupuncture needles, dogs seem to tolerate osteopathy remarkably well, although some naturally unruly dogs may need sedation before treatment.
