Physical Examination Gums and Teeth

The upper incisors must fit neatly over the lower incisors (scissors bite). If the upper incisors are too far forward it is overshot.

In some short-nosed breeds like the Boxer, the lower incisors just overlap the upper incisors (reverse scissors or undershot bite).

Gums should be pink and healthy, and may have pigment spots.
