Physical Examination Skin and Coat

Hair texture, density, and length should be appropriate for the breed with no thinning, balding or "moth-eaten" patches.

There should be no scale, dandruff, or flaking skin in the hair. On running your hands over the coat you should feel no unexpected bumps or crusty patches.

There should be no skin damage nor signs of external parasites.
