Proper identification
All cats, even those that live indoors, should carry identification.
An engraved disc or a canister containing your cat's information can be attached to a safe collar, which has a section that breaks away if caught on an obstruction.
A tiny microchip transponder inserted under the skin on your cat's neck will provide a permanent ID, even if your cat slips its collar.
If frightened, cats are likely to hide rather than return home. Training your cat to meow when it hears its name called is an effective way of finding a frightened or injured cat.
