Remove the Dewclaws and All theTails

In some countries is customary to remove the dewclaws and part or all of the tails from many breeds three days after birth and the ears of breeds such as Boxers, Schnauzers, Doberman Pinschers, and Great Danes are also cropped.

There is no reason to carry out these operations on family pups. Contrary to what some breeders say, tail docking and ear cropping serve only human vanity.

They are unnecessary. Removing the dewclaws, in contrast, may be beneficial for the dog later in life if it lives in a region that has heavy snow in winter.

The anatomy of the dewclaw makes it prone to injury from ice when a dog's feet penetrate through crusted snow.
