Scandinavian Figurine
This rudimentary cat, carved in amber, was found in an archaeologial excavation of a site in northern Sweden.
It is thought to date from the 9th century.
Such artifacts indicate that the domestic cat was, established, if not commonplace, across Scandinavia by this time.
