Sexing
When forming male-female pairs, or when segregating the weaned young, you may need to determine the sex of your guinea pigs. At first, you may have some difficulty.
Lift the guinea pig under the chest and raise it so the head and shoulders rest against your body.
Support the rear with your other hand. In the genital area, both the male and female have a slit shaped like an inverted 'Y'.
Gently press in front of this slit. The penis will appear in the middle of the 'Y' the guinea pig is a male. However, this technique should lever be performed on any guinea pig less than three weeks old.
