The Feline Hair Growth Cycle
Feline hair grows to a genetically predetermined length during a 60-to-90-day growth period (anagen).
After a short transitional stage (catagen) and 40 to 60 days of rest (telogen), it falls out, giving ay to a new hair.
Because hairs are at different stages at any time, shedding is gradual. The main external influence on growth is light: increased light stimulates heavy spring molt.
Under artificial light, indoor cats often shed all year. There is no such thing as a nonshedding cat.
