The Greatest Cost
The greatest cost, and also one of the greatest considerations in keeping a cat, is what to feed it. You are making decisions that affect not only your cat’s health but also the quality of its life.
Early learning is vital to future eating habits: for example, if a cat does not eat bones as a kitten it may never learn how to do so.
If it eats only' one texture of food, for example dry food, it may be unwilling to change to a different texture later on. Talk with your veterinarian about what is best for your cat.
When making any changes in your cat's feeding routine, remember that cats dislike sudden change, and shift from one food to another gradually over a one- to three-week period.
This gives the bacteria in the cat's gut time to modify to meet the new digestion demands.
