The Need for Perfection

Everything about your cat is geared towards maintaining the status quo, where all systems are in good order and working properly.

If damage occurs, extraordinary repairs begin almost instantly. For example, skin punctures from catfights are common injuries, and they are quickly repaired, but most of the repair work is under the visible scab and goes unseen.

As soon as a tooth or claw penetrates the skin, monitoring white blood cells, circulating in the bloodstream, note the damage and a whole army of defensive immune system cells is called into action to kill invading infections and clear up the debris left behind.

A carapace-like blood clot, the scab, forms a temporary repair to the damaged skin. Al the same time, new skin cells begin to grow at the edges of the wound; these eventually grow into a new layer of skin lo fill in the hole.

New blood vessels sprout from the nearest supply ensuring that the new skin has a healthy level of nourishment.
