Training Tips
Tips on teaching your dog to come to you:
1.To ensure that your dog always complies with your instructions, use a thin houseline (or, when you are outdoors, the leash) to ensure you can always get your dog's attention.
Do not use it like a fishing line, to reel in your dog. Instead, give a quick jerk on the leash to get its attention, then draw the dog to you with your reward, not with tension on the lead.
2.Never say "Come" unless you are sure your dog will obey.
3.Never use the "Come" command to call your dog from something exciting to something less interesting.
4.Never use the word "Come" to call your dog to discipline.
5.If your dog does not respond properly or does something wrong, avoid the word "No." Save that for more serious misdemeanors. Introduce a neutral word such as "Wrong" if it does not get the command right.
6.If your dog loses concentration, you have probably chosen the wrong time or place for training. Try again when it is better prepared.
7.Before training, always let your dog play vigorously first to burn off excess energy.
