What to Look for in a Puppy

Visually examine each puppy. Look for obvious signs of good health such as bright eyes and easy movement with no obvious lameness.

Compare one pup with another, looking at their heads, bodies, and limbs. All may look the same at first, but on careful inspection you will begin to notice the subtle differences within the litter.

Conscientious breeders will let you physically examine the litter. Each pup, even from the tiniest breed, should feel substantial. Even though your purchase will be contingent upon your vet, inspect from head to toe.

If you have not had a puppy previously, take a person experienced with dogs with you. Finally, ensure your purchase is contingent upon your vet's approval
